FIRA (Association of European Rugby) have chosen the city of Bergen to host the Women’s European Rugby Sevens Tournament on June 7th & 8th.
12 nations will participate with Romania being one of these. The winner and runners-up will continue in the qualification process for the Olympic Games in Brazil! Here are the links to our Facebook page and official webpage: http://rugby.no/bergen2014/
There will be an official dinner on the Sunday night where the Prime Minister, Erna Solberg and Minister of Trade & Industry, Monica Maeland (both originally from Bergen) have been invited to attend. Ms Maeland has already attended and enjoyed several international rugby matches in Bergen and is becoming an enthusiastic supporter.
As you can imagine, this is a great honour for, not only the rugby associations of Norway but also for the city of Bergen in general.
As the tournament’s promotions director, on behalf of the Norwegian Rugby Federation, it is my goal to generate great interest, enthusiasm and, of course, attendance of the tournament amongst the general population and ex-patriot communities for each nation involved.
In conjunction with the rugby tournament, we will be theming 12 local bars into “mini expo’s” of each of the 12 participating nations. It’s a fantastic opportunity to show off Romania to all the other nations participating and the citizens of Bergen too.We would like these bars to have samples of the national food/drink possibly traditional music/dance and other cultural products on display.
Best regards,
Anthony Hill
Tournament Events & Promotions Director
