Over the last ten years, Norwegians have become far more positive towards immigrants, according to figures from Statistics Norway (SSB).
The same tendency is shown by a fresh survey carried out by Response for the Bergen municipality.
According to SSB, 73 per cent of the population are of the opinion that immigrants contribute towards enriching Norwegian culture. This is an increase from 2002, when 63 per cent were of the same opinion.
In addition, eight out of ten Norwegians believe that immigrants are contributing positively to Norwegian work life. Ten years ago, 66 per cent were of the same opinion.
33 per cent believe that immigrants are a source for insecurity in our society, down from 45 per cent in 2002.
